The Infantry Fighting Rig (IFR)™ is our take on a modern, modular fighting rig, designed to maximize carrying capacity without sacrificing a slim, streamlined profile. Built around a wraparound configuration, the IFR utilizes two independent side-loading hulls that maximize available real estate while keeping bulk to a minimum. Whether configured for a conventional rifleman, specialized role, or machine gunner, the IFR gives you the flexibility to build your rig around your mission.
The IFR features an integrated H-harness system and is designed to interface directly with our SPARTAN Placard™, creating a fully integrated load carriage system. When paired together, the IFR and SPARTAN can accommodate up to 9 single-stacked 5.56 magazines, all while maintaining a streamlined profile.
Similar to the SPARTAN Placard™, both IFR hulls utilize an adaptive Velcro interior designed to accept interchangeable elastic magazine inserts. This allows you to configure each side according to your requirements, with compatibility for 5.56mm, 7.62mm, and 9mm magazine inserts, as well as a split insert featuring a 5.56mm magazine/radio slot and a larger compartment for a full-sized canteen. Rather than committing to permanently mounted magazine pouches, simply swap your inserts to suit the task at hand.
The exterior of both hulls features MOLLE fields, providing additional real estate to expand your setup with supplementary pouches and accessories. From additional ammunition and sustainment to mission-essential equipment, the IFR gives you the ability to build out your load carriage without compromising its streamlined design.
But what really sets the IFR apart is its ability to transform into a machine gunner rig right out of the box. With a simple zippered extension, both side hulls expand downwards, increasing their overall dimensions to accommodate full-sized M249/C9 machine gun ammunition boxes. This same feature provides additional vertical storage when required, making it ideal for carrying taller items such as full-sized canteens and radios in the side saddles.
